The Cheyne Drawing Studio has run successfully since 2011.
The Studio will have its final class on July 10th 2018

This is a friendly adult class and a unique life drawing in London facility. The Cheyne Drawing Studio offers small life drawing and painting classes every Tuesday 10.00-1.00 and 2.00-5.00. We meet in a stunning double height Chelsea Studio. Three large windows provide a wonderful naturally lit drawing space which is excellent for figure drawing. It is one of the best places to learn to draw in London.
The Studio is run by Richard Colson MA., Cert Ed.
Richard is a very experienced painter and teacher and has been teaching life drawing in London for many years. This is an ideal environment in which to learn to draw.
There is a life model who is given a series of short poses and a longer pose which starts before lunch and then continues for most of the afternoon session.

What people are saying about the Cheyne Drawing Studio.

"This was my first life drawing experience and I would recommend it to any newcomer thinking about learning to tackle the daunting task of drawing the human figure from a live model. You were very helpful in both demonstrating and assisting me in getting started. If I was not returning to Canada, I would be delighted to spend every Tuesday as a pupil."

"The Cheyne Drawing Studio, set in a peaceful and calm environment provides an excellent facility for those wishing to further their draughtsmanship. As an experienced working artist, Richard Colson runs a very professional class, in a relaxed and easy manner, and is always on hand to impart practical advice, encouragement and snippets of wisdom based on a broad knowledge of art."

"I can think of no better environment than the Cheyne Drawing studio to further ones development of drawing. Tucked away in the heart of Chelsea, the airy studio itself is steeped in history, with inspiration literally staring at you from all four walls. Richard Colson's calm, uncomplicated manner brings out the best in his students. I particularly relished the emphasis on good basic observational technique coupled with being encouraged to free oneself from conventional restraints."

“I've missed working with the immediacy of the model... and your classes are second to none. The models you choose, and your direction and inspiration. The amazing place you've organised. Without all of these I wouldn’t be producing the work that I do."

The quality of teaching, the class and the opportunities for drawing at the Cheyne Drawing Studio are fully endorsed by Olivia Musgrave, President of the Society of Portrait Sculptors.
